Walk-up NOVEMBER 2021 - COVID19 and FLU SHOT CLINICS
Dear Pinon Family Practice parents/patients,
We are happy to announce that we are able to provide both Moderna and Pfizer COVID19 vaccination to Pinon Family Practice patients 5 years of age and older. We are administering 1st and 2nd dose as well as boosters! Moderna is approved for ages 18+. Pfizer is approved for ages 12+ and the new Pfizer for pediatrics, approved for ages 5-11.
As your trusted medical professionals, we do strongly encourage all eligible patients to receive and complete the COVID19 vaccine series, including the booster dose. If you have specific questions or concerns for your provider, we ask that you call to schedule a telemedicine visit to discuss in detail. Portal messages and/or phone messages may not be responded to timely.
We will be hosting walk-in clinics on the following November dates/times for all current Pinon Family Practice patients. (December dates TBD)
Friday’s for 18+ patients only
November 12th and 19th - 2pm – 5pm
Saturday’s for ALL patients 5+
November 13th, 20th and 27th - 9am – 1pm
We are also administering FLU shots at the walk-in clinics and at the same time as the COVID19 vaccine. There are no co-administration concerns and are safe to do at the same time. Please note: the walk-in clinics are specifically for flu and/or COVID19 shots – we will not have staff available to answer phones, refill prescriptions, make appointments etc….
Patients 5-11 years old:
At long last, it's the kids' turn! On November 2, 2021 Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended Pfizer’s COVID19 vaccination for use in children aged 5 to 11 years. the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published its updated recommendations, including strong recommendation for children in this age group to receive the vaccine.
We are happy to discuss your questions/concerns via a telemedicine visit as mentioned above. In the meantime, we suggest reading The Science Behind COVID19 Vaccines; Parent FAQs as this may answer some of your questions. The following video links are also very informative: COVID19 and Kids: How mRNA vaccines work and How mRNA COVID19 vaccines were developed or Pediatricians on COVID vaccines for kids and Pediatricians answer your COVID19 vaccine questions.
Patients 18+
You can receive a booster dose of either vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), regardless of your initial completed series, including J&J. For Pfizer and Moderna you must be 6 or more months from completing the initial series and 2 months from J&J.
